Homicide Investigation 06-30-18

Hillsdale County Sheriff Timothy Parker reports that on 6/30/18 at approximately 2:35 a.m. deputies of the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence located at 9020 Abbott Rd, Camden, MI in reference to a Breaking and Entering in progress. While deputies were en route to the residence, the call was changed to shots fired and that a subject had been shot.
Upon arrival on scene deputies determined that a white male was shot and unresponsive inside the residence. Reading Emergency was called to the scene and pronounced the subject deceased at around 2:58 a.m.
Deputies interviewed a female at that residence, Sadie Rae Miller, age 25, of 9020 Abbott Rd, Camden, MI. They determined that Mrs. Miller was home with a male friend, Eddie Coleman Heathcoe, age 23, of Grand Bay, Alabama. She advised that Joshua Daniel Miller, age 25, of 204 S. Main St., Camden, MI then arrived at the residence and an argument had occurred between Joshua and Sadie Miller. Joshua Miller then shot Eddie Heathcoe several times.
Before deputies arrived on scene, Joshua Miller fled the residence in a Black Mazda 5. Hillsdale County Central Dispatch broadcasted a Be On the Lookout Bulletin (BOL) for Joshua Daniel Miller and that he was to be considered Armed and Dangerous and wanted for Homicide.
At 5:46 a.m., Hillsdale County Central Dispatch received a call from a residence in the 9000 block of Abbott Rd. stating that they had just discovered a Black SUV type vehicle in their field. The resident had checked the vehicle and discovered a white male driver unresponsive in the driver seat. The resident stated the vehicle had left the roadway, hit some trees and drove through their yard into the field. When deputies arrived at that residence, they discovered a white male unresponsive in a black Mazda 5. Reading Emergency was called to the scene and pronounced the male subject deceased around 6:29 a.m. The white male was identified as Joshua Daniel Miller. A Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigator was dispatched to the scene and is investigating the crash.
Lenawee County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to both scenes and autopsies were ordered to assist investigators.
Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police, Reading Emergency and the Camden Fire Department.

HE WAS FOUND A SHORT TIME LATER IN THE WRECKAGE OF A TRAFFIC CRASH A SHORT DISTANCE FROM THE MURDER SCENE…

SUSPECT WANTED IN CONNECTION TO A HOMICIDE IN HILLSDALE COUNTY. JOSHUA DANIEL MILLER 11/22/1990 POSSIBLY DRIVING A 2008 BLACK OR DARK BLUE MAZDA 5, MICHIGAN PLATE DJQ0681 HAS A DAMAGED WINDSHIELD, BODY DAMAGE AND A STICKER THAT SAYS “ROUGHNECK” ON THE VEHICLE. THERE ARE FIREARMS MISSING FROM THE RESIDENCE AND MILLER MAY HAVE AN AR-15 IN HIS POSSESSION. HE POSSIBLY HAS TIES TO A MILITIA/SURVIVALIST GROUP OUT OF FORT WAYNE INDIANA AREA CALLED ROUGHNECK.
