Hillsdale City Police are continuing their investigation into a stolen vehicle found submerged in a Baw Beese Lake early Sunday morning. Detective Brad Martin tells WCSR News, a city police officer was dispatched by 911 Central Dispatch at 7:32 Sunday morning to the boat launch overflow parking lot on Waterworks Drive to a report of a car in the water. Martin Says it’s unclear who called 911. The report says about six inches of the 2018 Ford Fiesta was sticking out of the water. The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team was dispatched, as was the Hillsdale City Fire Department’s Ladder Truck. Divers entered the water and determined there was no one in the vehicle. Hillsdale Towing then pulled the vehicle out of the water. Martin said the license plate was taken off the car. The owner of the vehicle, a Hillsdale City resident, told police they last saw the vehicle about 9:00 PM Saturday. Martin said the owner told police the vehicle was unlocked, and there was a spare key inside. Police are asking for the public’s help in the matter. If you have information, you are asked to call city police at 437-6481.
