Work continues to progress on the Fayette Street project in the city of Hillsdale. City Engineer, Kristin Bauer tells WCSR News that the precast box culvert has been installed over the St. Joe River. A sub-contractor is scheduled to come in and do concrete work around the culvert to shore it and the river banks up. Bauer said if the weather continues to cooperate, crews hope to have a base layer of asphalt put down before the plants close. This will allow contractors to open Fayette Street to traffic for the winter. Bauer said the final coat of asphalt will likely be put down after the asphalt plants re-open in late April or early May.
