Around 2,000 Consumers Energy customers remain without power as a result of severe thunderstorms that rolled through Hillsdale County Monday afternoon. The utility now says some customers may not have their power restored until Friday morning. A number of line workers have been on the job since shortly after the storms struck. More than 120,000 Consumers Energy customers were affected statewide.

Meanwhile: Hillsdale Board of Public Utilities crews are expected to wrap up restoration efforts by this evening. The utility’s Communications Coordinator, Sam Fry, tells WCSR News a handful of outages remained active as of this morning. He said those outages involve broken utility poles or damaged electrical masts. The nature of the damage has slowed progress–but Fry said those issues should be cleared up by the end of the day today.
