Fire destroyed a Reading Township barn Monday night.
The Reading FIre Department was dispatched to the Chis Clabaugh residence at 3640 South Sand Lake Road around 9:40 pm.
They arrived to find flames coming from the barn. The Hillsdale Township Fire Department was called in to assist.
Reading Fire Chief Brad Wright told WCSR News several hogs, including this year’s Reserve Grand Champion at the HIllsdale County Fair, died in the blaze.
He said some goats were lost as well.
More than twenty firefighters responded to the blaze–they were on the scene for about two hours, clearing just before midnight.
Wright said the exact cause of the blaze is yet to be determined. However, he said heaters were running inside the barn when the fire broke out.
The fire remains under investigation
