Firefighters from two departments battled a blaze that destroyed a home in the city of Hillsdale this morning.
Hillsdale City Firefighters were dispatched to 61 South Howell Street just before 5:00 am.
They were assisted by the Jonesville Fire Department.
Hillsdale Chief Scott Hephner told WCSR News, flames were coming from the back of the two-story house when crews arrived.
He said the residents were away from home when the fire broke out.
Hephner said the fire was moving quickly through the structure when crews knocked the flames down.
He said the home is likely a total loss.
There’s no word on what caused the blaze, which apparently started in the rear of the home.
A report will be forwarded to the State Fire Marshal’s office for review.
About a dozen firefighters were on the scene for around three hours–They cleared around 8:00 am.
Hephner said there were no injuries reported.
