It’s black Friday and the National Retailers Association expects holiday sales to increase six to eight percent over last year, despite inflation and talk of a recession.
Retailers are encouraging buyers to shop at local stores today–and tomorrow on Small Business Saturday.
Ken Joswiak, of the Hillsdale Business Association told WCSR News, shopping locally has a positive ripple effect by keeping money circulating in the local economy.
Once the money is spent outside the community, it takes a while to make its way back here.
The Michigan Retailers Association says if people shift one in ten purchases to local businesses… it could mean $2.2 Billion dollars to Michigan’s economy.
