The Hillsdale City Council has approved a fast-tracked contract with an engineering firm that will design the new terminal building at the Hillsdale Municipal Airport.

City Manager David Mackie said, due to a short timetable for the project, a contract has already been signed with aviation engineer, RS&H, of Plymouth,

The company will design the terminal, which will be built using a $2.5-million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Mackie said the design must be completed and put out to bid in time to have a bid opening prior to a July 1st deadline.

He said the contract could be canceled if the council opted against approving it.

The vote to approve was unanimous.

The city will pay about $7,400–or a 2.5-% share–of the nearly $300,000 contract.
