Thirty competitors took part in Saturday’s 27th Annual Osseo Heritage Day and Great Mushroom Hunt.
Hunters were divided into two classes as they vied for prizes and bragging rights in several categories.
In the Master’s Class, which is reserved for past winners of the competition, Team Ritchie was crowned Mushroom Champion–They brought in the largest single Morel, weighing just shy of one pound; It measured 4 ¾”
The Mushroom Mafia brought in the largest amount of mushrooms–They turned in a whopping 42.13 pounds!
In the Open Class: Trent Brackman had the largest Morel, measuring 2 ¾“; It weighed around ⅓ of a pound.
Grant Alley and Brody Young had the largest amount of Morels in the Open Class with 22.71 pounds.
Competitors checked in a total of 149.55 pounds of mushrooms.
Out of that total, 51 pounds were sold at auction, bringing bids of $65 to $100 per pound.
