The Hillsdale City Council has approved resolutions for two businesses to join a Downtown Social District.

At Monday’s regular meeting, Council considered applications from Hillsdale Brewing and Here’s To You Pub & Grub.

They were the first businesses to apply after the Michigan Liquor Control Commission approved the City’s application to create the districts, which will allow bar and restaurant patrons to carry open alcohol containers between participating businesses.

Hillsdale’s Communications Coordinator, Sam Fry, tells WCSR News a resolution of city approval is required before the applicants can seek a permit from the State.

Fry said now that the LCC has given its approval, the City has ordered signage for the district.

Information packets have been created for interested businesses to learn more–The packets are available from the Economic Development Office.

Fry said maps of the social districts will be uploaded to the city’s website at cityofhillsdale.org, once they’re created.
