Hillsdale County Sheriff Scott Hodshire is urging boaters to use caution on the water over the Fourth Of July Holiday.
The Sheriff’s Department’s Marine Patrol is tasked with enforcing Michigan’s boating laws on local waters.
Michigan law prohibits operating a boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The Marine Patrol responded to several violations over the weekend and Hodshire said Deputies will be on the water over the holiday.
Hodshire said the aim is to have everyone “Enjoy their time on the water without having to worry about getting injured by careless boaters”
