A major project at The Hillsdale Municipal Airport is set to move forward, as the Hillsdale City Council awarded the bid for the construction of a new terminal building.
The City recently received four bids for the project, with Kalleward Group, of Kalamazoo, submitting the low bid of just over $2,9-million.
The project engineering firm, RS&H, along with the Airport Advisory Committee, recommended awarding the job to Kalleward Group.
The City’s share of the estimated at $3.2 million project is currently set at just over $630,000. However, that amount may be negotiated down.
City Manager David Mackie said City’s share will come from the Airport Improvement Fund of $635,000. He said, over the past several years, the fund has grown through fuel sales revenue, hangar rental fees and other fees.
Council voted unanimously, Monday, to move forward with the project.
