The Village of North Adams has been awarded a $1000 Micro Grant from the Michigan Municipal League Foundation for the installation of a permanent cornhole game in the local park. The grant application was written by Village Clerk Ellie Briner, who learned about the grants last year and applied during the application period in March and April of this year. The winners were announced earlier this week.

Briner told WCSR News, she expects to receive the funding for the project in the next couple weeks. Once it arrives the cornhole boards along other materials will be ordered.

Briner said she’ll reach out to the youth in the community to decorate the boards.

She said the addition of permanent cornhole boards is aimed at broadening the appeal of the local park, and drawing a larger cross section of village residents to the facility.

The grant is part of the MML’s Bridge Builders Neighborhood Micro Grants program, which aims to bring people together through creative and collaborative projects.
