Authorities are investigating a Monday afternoon traffic crash that involved a sport utility vehicle and an Amish farm implement.
Deputies were dispatched to West Reading Road near GIlmore Road around 3:45 PM.
They say 79 year-old Robert Hites Jr., Of Hillsdale, was driving a Ford Explorer westbound on Reading Road when he struck the rear of a hay rake driven by Menno Lengacher.
The impact sent Hites’ vehicle off the road, where he struck a tree.
Both Hites and Lengacher were taken to Hillsdale Hospital for treatment–There’s no word on their condition.
Accident investigators say speed was a factor in the crash, and Hites may have been following too close.
The crash remains under investigation.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Hudson Ambulance and Reading Emergency Unit Personnel.
