Officials are warning residents about scam artists and price-gougers taking advantage of homeowners affected by severe weather over the summer months.

The Michigan Attorney General’s Office is reminding homeowners to take their time and not make rash decisions when approached by someone offering immediate home repairs. 

Homeowners should review their insurance policies, do their research before hiring contractors, get everything in writing, and never pay in cash or upfront. 

Severe thunderstorms rocked the WCSR listening area late last month, bringing down trees, knocking out power and causing damage in several areas of Hillsdale and Branch Counties. .
