Authorities are urging caution due to the heatwave. 

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for today, as temperatures are expected to soar into the mid-90’s with heat indexes well above 100.

Two local organizations have opened their doors to provide relief from the heat. 

The Hillsdale County Senior Services Center, at 320 W. Bacon Rd., is open from 8:00am to 6:00pm on Thursday– and from 8:00am to 4:30pm on Friday. 

The Salvation Army  at 160 E. Bacon St., is be open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm weekdays. 

The facilities will serve as cooling centers, providing respite from the heat during their normal business hours. 

Hillsdale County Emergency Management & 911 Director Thomas Whitaker reminds residents to dial 211 for information on other cooling centers that may be available in neighboring communities.
