Administrators at North Adams Jerome Schools alerted families to what they called a “Concerning Statement” that was left by a student, Thursday.
In a post on the district’s social media, Superintendent Daniel Shadik said the statement was found on a class assignment in the Middle/High School.
Shadik said administrators quickly handled the situation. A student was suspended pending an investigation and law enforcement was contacted.
He went to assure parents that there was no existing threat, following the action taken by school officials. .
School threats have become a common occurrence in recent years–and with the rise in deadly school shootings, districts nationwide have been forced to use extreme caution in dealing with possible threats.
