Authorities have shut down a section of Hallett Street in the City of Hillsdale, after a trash truck struck the railroad viaduct, moving it several feet!
The incident occurred just before 10:00 o’clock Monday Morning, when the driver of a westbound Modern Waste truck disregarded the warning signs about the low bridge, which has claimed a number of trucks over the years.
The driver’s name has not been released.
According to witnesses at the scene, he was treated for head injuries that appeared to be non-life-threatening.
Photos from the scene show the heavily damaged bridge structure, including a support that was knocked off its foundation and moved several feet.
Indiana Northeastern Railroad officials, along with City Police, say that stretch of Hallett Street is closed until further notice.
