A former staff member at the Hillsdale County Youth Home is in jail, awaiting sentencing, following a Thursday jury trial on charges stemming from incidents that occurred in 2022. 

25 year-old Madelyn Whitehead, of Hudson, was arrested in July 2022 following an investigation into allegations that she provided contraband and had inappropriate relationships with two juvenile residents.

She was initially charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct 2nd degree, along with charges of accosting a minor for immoral purposes and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. 

She was found guilty of two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct 2nd degree, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison.

The jury returned “Not Guilty” verdicts on the remaining charges. 

The investigation began with a report that Whitehead had provided a nicotine vape pen to a resident of the facility.

She was fired from her position at the youth home.

A deeper investigation uncovered other criminal behavior, 

Whitehead is due for sentencing June 10th.
